Man Sentenced to Death for Raping and Murdering Two Minor Sisters in Shahjahanpur

Man gets death for rape & murder of 2 minors in ShahjahanpurBAREILLY: Additional district and sessions courts in Shahjahanpur on Friday sentenced a 35-year-old man to death for raping a seven-year-old girl and killing her 5-year-old sister in 2021.Additional District Judge (ADJ) Manoj Kumar Sidhu also imposed a fine of Rs 1.37 Lakh on the convict Anil alias Chameli.The incident took place on February 22, 2021, in a village under the Kant police station area in Shahjahanpur. Both sisters had gone to a handpump near their primary school to bathe in the afternoon, but did not return home on time. When the children were not found after several hours, their grandfather informed the police, and villagers started searching for them.West Bengal Police Arrest Three in Connection with Durgapur Gang-Rape CaseDuring the search, the body of the five-year-old was discovered around 9 p.m. in a mustard field, while the seven-year-old was found in a nearby sugarcane field with serious injuries. She was rushed to the district hospital, where she regained consciousness after about 15 days. Medical examination confirmed rape, and postmortem findings suggested that the deceased was strangled to death.Subsequently, the police probe revealed that Anil, who used to collect honey from nearby villages, was seen taking the children on his bicycle. Based on witness accounts, police detained him. During questioning, he admitted to luring the girls with biscuits and honey before taking them to the fields and committing the crime.The surviving girl identified the accused after recovering. After reviewing all evidence and testimonies, the court sentenced Anil to death and imposed a fine of Rs 1,37,500. The court ordered that he be hanged till death.
