The Pimpri Chinchwad police, who took custody of Sheetal Tejwani in the Mundhwa land deal case, said the focus of their probe will be primarily the stamp duty waiver in the controversial land deal. Tejwani was remanded in police custody for eight days for the probe into the FIR registered at Bavdhan police station. Two separate FIRs have been registered over the alleged irregularities and graft in the Mundhwa land deal, the sale deed for which was registered in May this year. One case was registered at Khadak police station underPunepolice, which has since been transferred to the Economic Offences Wing, while the second case has been registered at Bavdhan police station under Pimpri Chinchwad police. Tejwani (44) has been named in both the FIRs as she held the power of attorney for 272 watandars of Mahar watan land in Mundhwa for its sale to Amadea Enterprises LLP, a firm in which Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s son, Parth, is a partner. The Pune land deal has been embroiled in a controversy as the land in Mundhwa, that fell under the category of Mahar Watan land and was leased to the Botanical Survey of India, was sold to Amadea Enterprises LLP without the mandatory approval of the state government, at significantly lower price than the market value and with a stamp duty waiver.
