Notorious Criminal Shot in Leg After Attacking Police During Transportation

Surat: A history-sheeter and an accused in a recent double-murder case, Shiva Takla, was shot in the leg after he allegedly attacked police personnel and attempted to snatch the service revolver of a sub-inspector of the Godadara police station on Tuesday.The incident occurred near a rivulet in Devadh village when police were escorting Takla to the Godadara police station after arresting him in Ahmedabad. During the journey, he complained of vomiting, forcing the police to halt the vehicle. However, this turned out to be a ruse. Takla picked up a stone and attacked the police personnel and also tried to snatch the revolver of the PSI.Acting in self-defence, the police opened fire, and a bullet struck Takla in the leg."While no police personnel were injured in the incident, the police vehicle sustained damage as its window glass was broken during the scuffle.After being shot, Takla pleaded with the police with folded hands, promising not to repeat any criminal activity in the future. He was subsequently shifted to SMIMER hospital for further medical treatment.Takla is a notorious criminal with a long criminal history and has previously been booked in murder and attempted murder cases. He was also sent to jail under the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities (PASA) Act earlier this year.However, after his release, he allegedly attacked three persons and killed Soeb Shaikh and Nazim Sadik Raj alias Bhanja over financial disputes on December 2.Godadara police had arrested five accused, including minors, by Monday. On Tuesday, the main accused, Shiva Takla, was also apprehended by the police.Shivakant Lalan Yadav alias Shiva Takla is native of Pratapgadh in Uttar Pradesh.
