Sunjay Kapur passed away in June this year, but soon after his demise, there's been a family feud regarding his will and Rs 30,000 crore estate which has taken a legal turn. Sunjay's children with ex-wifeKarisma Kapoorhave filed a plea in theDelhi High Courtalleging that his widowed wife Priya Kapur has forged his will.An important hearing took place before the Joint Registrar of the Delhi High Court on Wednesday in the ongoing Will dispute. Several applications were heard, raising serious questions about the conduct of the parties and the authenticity of documents placed before the court. The matter was heard by Mr. Gagandeep Jindal, Joint Registrar.Priya Sachdev Kapur steps into public eye amid ₹30,000 crore Sunjay Kapur estate feudAs reported by LawChakra, the main issue discussed was an application seeking inspection and forensic examination of the original Will filed on record.Karisma Kapoor’s children requested access to the original Will so it could be scientifically and independently verified to determine whether it is genuine or fabricated. However, Priya Sachdev Kapur, who claims rights under the same Will, strongly opposed the request. Karisma Kapoor’s children argued that the opposition appeared deliberate and raised doubts about whether the document could withstand independent scrutiny. In their defence, Priya's cousel argued that they have already filed all her replies, while the plaintiff Karisma Kapoor has failed to file her responses/rejoinder despite earlier deadlines. Hence, sought additional time, reinforcing the defence’s position that the proceedings are being prolonged through repeated delay tactics rather than substantive arguments.Regarding Karisma's plea seeking disclosure of assets, Priya Kapur’s counsel told the court that complete details had already been placed on record before Justice Jyoti Singh, calling the application “unnecessary".Karisma, on the other hand, maintained that the disclosures were not exhaustive and said she would file her response at a later stage. The hearing also saw some uncertainty when Sunjay Kapur’s mother first indicated that she would not be submitting a reply to one of the applications, a stance that was quickly changed after her lawyers conferred briefly and informed the court that a response would, in fact, be filed. After hearing arguments on both applications, the Joint Registrar listed the matter for further consideration on 20 January 2026.Early this month, Priya and her minor son, contended before the Delhi High Court that it does not have jurisdiction to injunct them from dealing with foreign assets in the UK and the US. Her counsel submitted that the issue of foreign assets is a matter of foreign jurisdiction and the high court cannot stop them from seeking title of Sunjay's immovable properties abroad.Get an chance to win ₹5000 Amazon Voucher by taking part in India's Biggest Habit Index!
