AAP Chief Backs 24-Day Protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar

The protest by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) at Delhi's Jantar Mantar has been going on for the last 24 days. Sonam Wangchuk, an educationist and environmental activist, has been on a hunger strike since June 28 and his health has been deteriorating. On Tuesday, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal extended his support to the protest and appealed to Wangchuk to end the hunger strike. Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav also urged Wangchuk to break his fast and launched a scathing attack on the BJP government. Many celebrities, including author Arundhati Roy, have also appealed to the protesters to stop the hunger strike. Kejriwal said in a press conference that he will go to Jantar Mantar on Thursday at 5 pm and support Wangchuk and the CJP's protest. He said that Wangchuk has been on hunger strike for several days and his health is deteriorating. Kejriwal said that Wangchuk is a precious personality of the country and he should end his hunger strike and resign on the path of struggle. He also said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) should support the Prime Minister in the education system.
