Adani Group Expands Projects Across Non-BJP Ruled States

Other Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, have often taken on the Modi government over the growing business of the Adani Group. However, the Adani Group has also grown rapidly in states ruled by the Congress and other non-BJP parties. The group is working on or pursuing projects worth about ₹5 lakh crore in these states in areas such as roads, ports, power, renewable energy, cement, and data centres. Adani Enterprises in Congress-ruled Karnataka has been the lowest bidder for the proposed 16.75 km tunnel road project connecting Hebbal and the Central Silk Board in Bengaluru. The Adani Group already has a presence in Karnataka. It includes the 1200 MW Udupi power plant and the Mangaluru International Airport. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone in Kerala has developed the Vizhinjam International Port. The project began during the previous Left Front government and is set to be expanded during the current Congress-led government's 2024 term. The Tirunelveli International Airport in Thiruvananthapuram was also commissioned by the Congress government in January 2025 at a cost of over ₹600 crore.
