Ahmedabad Lawyer Loses ₹57.90 Lakhs to Crypto Currency Scam

Cyber fraud cases are increasing in Ahmedabad, Ahmedabad and fraudsters are now targeting people by adopting new modus operandi. One such incident has come to light in which a 70-year-old lawyer from Sheelaj has been contacted on Facebook by a girl who lured her to marry a lawyer and invest in crypto currency and cheated a total of 57.90 lakhs. The girl also lured her to marry a lawyer and settle in Italy. Regarding this, the Cyber Crime Branch registered a complaint and started further investigation. According to the Cyber Crime Branch, in November 2025, the lawyer got in touch with a girl named "Laxmidevi Reddy" on Facebook. The girl told the lawyer that she had studied from IIM Ahmedabad and was currently living in Hyderabad. Then the mobile number was exchanged between the two and the conversation started through daily WhatsApp messages and video calls, which made the lawyer trust the girl more. The girl lured him about her life style and rich family and lured him to settle in Italy. During the marriage, the lawyer's uncle said that the girl had also been influenced by the company's ID4 company.
