All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal , contesting the Assam Assembly elections from the Binnakandi constituency , has declared total assets exceeding Rs 169 crore and liabilities of over Rs 4.45 crore in his election affidavit. According to the affidavit filed with his nomination papers, Ajmal’s movable assets are valued at approximately Rs 52.43 crore, while his immovable assets amount to around Rs 149.12 crore. His spouse, Rizwaana Badruddin Ajmal, has declared movable assets worth about Rs 31.08 lakh and immovable assets valued at roughly Rs 6.82 lakh. In terms of income, Ajmal reported earnings of about Rs 3.21 crore for the financial year 2024–25, while his spouse declared an income of Rs 49,950 during the same period. A comparison with previous affidavits indicates a steady rise in Ajmal’s declared wealth over the past decade. During the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, his assets were estimated at around Rs 44–50 crore. By 2019, this had increased to approximately Rs 78–90 crore, nearly doubling within five years. The latest figures show a significant expansion in his asset base, driven largely by growth in immovable assets, now valued at around Rs 149 crore, alongside movable assets exceeding Rs 52 crore. Ajmal’s investments include real estate holdings, business interests, shares, bonds and other financial instruments. The affidavit details properties in Hojai, Guwahati and parts of Karnataka, indicating a diversified portfolio. On the legal front, the AIUDF leader has disclosed one pending criminal case related to alleged objectionable remarks, which is currently under investigation. The affidavit further notes that Ajmal’s highest educational qualification is matriculation from Darul Uloom Deoband.
