Kolkata, West Bengal: Former Indian fast bowler Ashok Dinda has won the West Bengal Assembly elections. Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Ashok Dinda has won the Moyna seat in East Midnapore for the second time in a row. Dinda defeated Chandan Mondal of the Trinamool Congress. Before this, Dinda had made his political debut by winning from the same seat. Born in West Bengal on 25 March 1984, Ashok Dinda made his international debut in a T20 match against Sri Lanka in 2009. However, his international career did not last long. He played 13 ODIs and 9 T20Is for India. However, he did well in domestic cricket. Dinda played 116 first-class matches and took over 420 wickets, while in List A cricket, he took 151 wickets in 98 matches. In IPL, Ashok Dinda played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rising Pune Supergiants. He played 788 IPL matches and missed IPL 2017 by a whisker.
