: Gaurav Gogoi Taking moral responsibility for the party's defeat in the Assam Assembly elections, Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi on Monday said his fight for the rights and dignity of the people will continue. The Congress won only 19 seats in the 126-member Assam Assembly, its worst-ever performance in the state. Five years ago, the party won 26 seats. Gogoi himself lost to BJP MLA Hitendra Nath Goswami by over 23,000 votes in the Jorhat seat. In a Facebook post in Assamese, he said, "As Assam Pradesh Congress President, I take moral responsibility for this defeat.
