Bangladesh Calls for Renewed Relationship with India, Bilateral Visit Instead of Multilateral Summit

Bangladesh, which stayed away from the BRICS summit, is now throwing tantrums. In Dhaka, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir said that we cannot think only about India all the time during breakfast, lunch and dinner. We have to move beyond this. He said that Bangladesh wants to renew its relationship with India, define new ways and move forward from the ways of relations of the last 15 years. He said that therefore, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman should make a bilateral visit instead of going as part of a multilateral program. The point to be noted is that Bangladesh's Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was new to the BRICS summit. Humayun Kabir said that our Prime Minister was not invited so it is not possible to go. Also, Bangladesh is raising the issue of Sheikh Hasina's extradition. On Sunday, Humayun Kambir was responding to a question from journalists in Dhaka. When asked if Prime Minister Narendra Modi would meet his Indian counterpart outside the UN General Assembly in September, Kabir simply said, "Humayun is not attracted to India."
