Becoming a Doctor in India: The Journey Beyond Medical Degree

Every year lakhs of students take admission in MBBS with the dream of becoming a doctor, but just getting a medical degree is not enough to become a doctor. Having a medical license is mandatory to treat patients, prescribe medicines, and start medical practice. For this, students have to go through many procedures related to NEET UG, MBBS, internship, and license after 12th. At the same time, after the change in medical education in recent years, the National Medical Commission and the National Exit Test have also become an important part of this process. Medical license is the official permission that allows a qualified doctor to practice medicine in India. This license is proof that the person concerned has fulfilled certain educational qualifications, training, and other necessary conditions. Without a valid medical registration, no one can legally treat patients or issue medical prescriptions. Becoming a doctor starts from 12th grade, the candidate is allotted a seat in private subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and MBBS after 12th, and the admission to the medical examination is done on the basis of the government's medical certificate.
