Bihar CM Visits Delhi to Discuss Sharing of Son River Water with Jharkhand

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary is on a visit to Delhi today. Chief Minister Samrat will attend a meeting to be chaired by Home Minister Amit Shah at Kartavya Bhawan and then meet the Minister of Jal Shakti. It is believed that an agreement can be reached on sharing the water of the Son River. Bihar CM Samrat can sign an agreement with Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren. The dispute between Bihar and Jharkhand over the water of the Son River is not new. This dispute has been going on since the partition of Bihar and the formation of a new state as Jharkhand. The issue of the water of the Son River was unresolved since the formation of Jharkhand. Now both the states seem to be reaching an agreement on the sharing of the water of the Son River. It is being said that both the states have agreed on a formula to share the water of the Son River. Significantly, under the Bansagar Agreement of 1973, the share of the Son River is fixed between the then Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh through this agreement.
