Bihar Liquor Ban: JDU Minister Downplays Jitan Ram Manjhi's Statement

On Monday (August 10, 2026), JDU quota minister Sunil Kumar said that Jitan Ram Manjhi may have a personal opinion. There is a complete ban on liquor in Bihar since 2016. There is continuous action by the police and the liquor prohibition department, whether there is an arrest or a trial. The law that has been passed by both the houses is in progress. On Jitan Ram Manjhi's liquor ban statement, JDU quota minister Sheila Mandal said, "Jitan Ram Manjhi is a senior leader of our NDA alliance. We have not heard what he has said. It is not appropriate to react to what he has said. It can be his personal opinion." Nitish Kumar has also been involved in the review of the liquor ban several times.
