BJP Forms Double-Engine Government in West Bengal After Landslide Victory

BJP Electoral Growth in Bengal: After Congress and Left Front, the stronghold of Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress (TMC), the double-engine government of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is being formed in West Bengal. The BJP is now seen to be forming a double-engine government there as well, having won more than two-thirds of the seats in the West Bengal assembly elections. The journey of the BJP from three MLAs to 206 seats has been completed in just 10 years, which is being credited to the duo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. The BJP's journey from Bengal in the Lok Sabha began in 1998 with an alliance with Mamata Banerjee, but the first BJP MLA reached the assembly in 2016. In 10 years, the BJP increased 35 percent of the vote to bid farewell to the Mamata Banerjee government, which has been in power for three consecutive terms. Mamata herself could not even save her own seat. The BJP's victory in Bengal is a symbol of Narendra Modi's popularity and Amit Shah's election management. In 2016, the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha of Vimal Gurung won 3 MLAs in the BJP alliance, but the party won 3 seats in the 2021 elections. The BJP's strength was also
