BJP Legislature Party Condemns False Cases Against Its Leaders, Calls It Attack On Democracy

The BJP Legislature Party meeting was held in Shimla on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. The meeting was specially attended by BJP State President Dr. Rajiv Bindal. The meeting began with a two-minute silence on the demise of late Narayanan, father of General Secretary (Organisation) Siddharthan, and a prayer for peace to his soul. After the meeting, Secretary of the Legislature Party and MLA Randhir Sharma said that the current political situation in the state, the working style of the Congress government and the strategy for the upcoming monsoon session of the Assembly starting from August 21 were discussed in detail. He said that the Legislature Party condemned in the strongest terms the continuous filing of false cases against BJP MLAs, former MLAs, zila parishad members, panchayat representatives, elected representatives of municipal bodies and other public representatives by the state government and the political misuse of police-administration and government agencies. He said that this is a direct attack on the democratic system and the government is trying to suppress the voice of the opposition with a sense of vengeance.
