Gandhinagar: A three-day meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Board began at Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel's residence in Gandhinagar today to set up the power structure in Gujarat's local bodies. The meeting, to be held from May 6 to May 8, is to select office-bearers for the state's 15 municipal corporations, 34 district panchayats, 84 municipalities and 260 taluka panchayats. The meeting, which began at 1 am, is to brainstorm names in the presence of state presidents and parliamentary board members. New office-bearers will be elected in 393 local bodies: The parliamentary board meeting will finalise names for key posts such as mayors, deputy mayors, standing committee chairmen and panchayat presidents in a total of 393 local bodies in Gujarat. There has been a huge curiosity in political circles, especially in municipal corporations. The list of names brought by the observers of each district and city will be discussed in detail during these three days.
