The BJP has retained power in the hills. However, in the midst of this political situation, Darjeeling MP Raju Bista has threatened to destroy important and sensitive documents of Kalimpong, Kurseong and Mirik municipalities. Fearing this, he has written an urgent letter to the Chief Secretary of the state, Dushyant Nariyala. In this letter sent on Monday, he has alleged that the caretaker or supervisory administrators appointed by the Trinamool Congress government can remove the documents to hide the facts of corruption. Therefore, he has appealed for quick action. The MP has mentioned in his letter that since yesterday, he has received multiple complaints from various citizens and organizations. They fear that the current supervisory authorities are hell bent on erasing the evidence of the massive corruption that has taken place in these three municipalities in the last few years. Raju Bista has alleged that no elections have been held in these three municipalities since 2022. The Trinamool government has illegally installed persons of their choice as supervisory chairpersons or administrators. There are allegations of misuse of government funds and property and serious irregularities against these persons. The chief executive officer of the Municipal Corporation of Kalimpong has been directed to ensure that all the documents are protected.
