BJP Secures Majority in Rajkot District Panchayat, Elects Office Bearers

RAJKOT: With the BJP getting a thumping majority in the district panchayat, the process of electing office bearers, including president-vice president, president and vice-president is underway. Party leaders and punters are appointed. After the formation of the executive committee, the members of the committee elect the executive president. These five posts in the panchayat are considered to be the first line. A high-level coordination committee will meet tomorrow night at the minister-in-charge's bungalow in Gandhinagar to decide on their names. The panel will be prepared and placed in the parliamentary board on the next day. The president-vice president elections are to be held between 8 and 16. The president post in the district panchayat is reserved mainly for the Koli community. In the race for the post of president, the name of Amarshi Chauhan, who was elected in Vinchhiya's Bhadli, Devendra Japda, who was elected from Jasdan's Shivraj, and Arjun Khatariya, who was elected from Kotdasani's Aahir Samaj, are the frontrunners.
