BJP Sweeps Bengal Elections, Mamata Banerjee's TMC Suffers Crushing Defeat

New Delhi, Dec 6: The results of the assembly elections 2026 have caused a major upheaval in Indian politics. Mamata Banerjee and her party TMC, who have been in power for the last 15 years, have suffered a crushing defeat. The BJP has cleared the way to form its government in Bengal for the first time by winning more than 200 out of 294 seats. This defeat has cast a cloud of crisis not only on the party, but also on the India Alliance, which is a symbol of opposition unity.
