BJP Sweeps Jhargram as Kudmi Community Abandons TMC

Buddhadeb Bera, Jhargram A saffron storm in Jangalmahal. TMC loses all four seats in Jhargram. BJP wins. Kudmi community cheers. No vote to TMC in Jangalmahal. Kudmi community dominates Jhargram, Purulia, Bankura and parts of West Midnapore in Jangalmahal. Kudmi have staged several agitations by blocking rail and national highways demanding their inclusion in Scheduled Tribe list. Police arrested leaders of Kudmi community for allegedly attacking TMC's All India General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee's convoy in Garh Shalbani, Jhargram ahead of 2023 panchayat polls. Kudmi community fought panchayat elections independently and captured a few gram panchayats. They started to distance themselves from TMC. Ahead of assembly elections this time, they raised slogans of'No vote to TMC '. Three major organizations of Kudmi community, Adivasi Kudmi Samaj, Kudmi Samaj West Bengal and Nemchi Kudmi Samaj, led by Gopi Mahato, joined BJP and joined BJP.
