BJP Sweeps Local Elections in Ajmer, Udaipur, and Alwar Municipal Corporations

The election for Deputy Mayor in Ajmer Municipal Corporation was a close contest. BJP's Hemant Sankhala and Congress candidate got 40-40 votes. After the tie, the lottery was decided as per the prescribed procedure, in which BJP's Hemant Sankhala won. Earlier, BJP's Anamika Sharma was elected as Mayor. Out of 80 wards in Ajmer, Congress has 37, BJP 32 and 11 independent councillors. Despite this, BJP managed to get both Mayor and Deputy Mayor posts. BJP's Dinesh Bhatt was elected as Deputy Mayor in Udaipur Municipal Corporation. He defeated Congress candidate Laxminarayan Meghwal. Earlier, BJP's Paras Singhvi was elected as Mayor of the Municipal Corporation. First Deputy Mayor of Alwar Municipal Corporation was BJP's Ajay Punia. He got 40 votes, while Congress's Mamta Saini got 24 votes. One vote was rejected. Mayor post is also with BJP. Deputy Mayor election in Pali Municipal Corporation was also held on equal number of votes. BJP's Pal Singh NOTA and Independent candidate Vikram Mehroo got 65 votes.
