BJP Wins Record 731 Uncontested Seats in Gujarat Local Body Elections

Now there is a fight between only 25,000 candidates. A record 731 seats have been won by the BJP as more than 1,900 candidates have withdrawn their forms. Only 25,000 candidates are in the fray for the local body elections. 731 seats have been declared uncontested on the last day of filing of forms in Gujarat. This is the first time that such a large number of seats have been uncontested. As per the Election Commission data, there has been a big jump in the number of uncontested seats compared to 2021. 241 seats were uncontested in the 2021 elections. This time the season of last-minute alliances and defections has caught up with the BJP.
