BJP's Ashutosh Tiwari Faces Protests in Datia By-Election Amid Narottam Mishra's Expected Candidacy

The BJP fielded Ashutosh Tiwari in the upcoming Datia by-election in Madhya Pradesh. Now the supporters protested against the ticket of Narottam Mishra. NH44 was blocked for several kilometers. The BJP office in Datia was also closed. Narottam Mishra had even bought the form for the by-election. Narottam lost the election in the 2023 assembly election. But since the by-election was announced, he had become active in the area. He is a three-time MLA from this seat. Datia seat is considered a'stronghold'of the BJP. According to the BJP, Tiwari's name was announced as a candidate from this seat after getting the approval of the party's central election committee. The by-election for Datia assembly seat will be held on 30 July 1998 and the result will be announced on 3 August. This seat has been vacated due to his disqualification from the membership of the assembly after Congress MLA Rajendra Bharti was convicted by the court in a fraud case. On Friday, Bharti was sentenced by the Delhi High Court for illegally manipulating bank records and receiving interest.
