Kolkata: With the slogan of coming political change in West Bengal, the Bharatiya Janata Party today launched a massive statewide'Poriborton Yatra'( Change Yatra) rallies. Union Ministers, MPs and MLAs have come out in large numbers to spread the message of change in every nook and corner of the state. Union Minister of State Dr. Sukanta Majumdar took the lead at Alipurduar. However, reports of violence amid this political heat have raised concerns. BJP MLA Baneswar Mahato was suddenly attacked while he was participating in the yatra at Balarampur in Purulia district. 6 BJP workers were reported to have been seriously injured in the clashes. The BJP has alleged the ruling party's hand behind the attack, which has further strained the law and order situation in the state. On the other hand, Trinamool Congress supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also started a sit-in protest at the SIR (Special Reserve Guard) Ground in Kolkata.
