The release of the BJP's'Sankalp Patra'ahead of the assembly polls has triggered intense political pressure. Union Home Minister Amit Shah released the manifesto on Friday, drawing sharp criticism from the Trinamool Congress and the Congress. TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee attacked the BJP directly, saying, "The BJP sees Kolkata as Bangladesh." He claimed that the manifesto was an attempt to mislead the general public. Abhishek said, "Earlier the name of the manifesto was Sonar Bangla Sankalp Patra. Now that name has been removed. Maybe they themselves have assumed that Bengal has already become Sonar Bangla." He added that the manifesto should have apologised to the people earlier for the situation created by the special intensive rectification process. Meanwhile, the TMC alleged that the manifesto was full of unrealistic promises, much like a chit fund company.
