BJP's Saroj Kanwar Elected as First Female Deputy Mayor of Jaipur Municipal Corporation

In the Jaipur Municipal Corporation, after the mayor, now the deputy mayor's chair is also occupied by the BJP. Saroj Kanwar, a BJP councillor from No. 90, defeated Congress candidate Salman by 31 votes. Saroj got 89 votes, while Salman got 58 votes. During the voting, one vote was rejected and one councillor did not vote. Interestingly, in the deputy mayor election, like the mayor election, a councillor also pressed the NOTA button. With this victory, Saroj Kanwar set a record to become the first female deputy mayor in the history of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation. Just half an hour after the announcement of the victory, she took the deputy mayor's chair. The BJP had bet on Saroj Kanwar as the OBC face for the post of deputy mayor. She belongs to the Ravana Rajput Samaj and is the wife of the state president of the Ravana Rajput Samaj, Ranjit Singh Sodala. Saroj Kanwar was elected as a BJP councillor from Ward-90 of Civil Lines. As soon as the name came up for the deputy mayor, the voice of the BJP was heard, but Saroj Kanwar did not vote.
