Manish Srivastava, Lucknow: The BJP's victory in West Bengal came on the back of a tried-and-tested strategy and roadmap in UP. Sunil Bansal, a former state BJP general secretary who had won four elections in UP with his strategy, brought his trusted team UP to West Bengal and scripted a victory. This team not only resolved local disputes but also forced the BJP's foundation with micro booth management and data planning. The BJP had responded to four ministers and a former minister in West Bengal from UP in the election campaign since October. The party had divided West Bengal into five regions from the electoral point of view, three of which were given to Cooperation Minister JPS Rathore, former cabinet minister Suresh Rana and Uttarakhand Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat. Of these, Cooperation Minister JPS Rathore, who was handling the election war room in UP, was given the responsibility of 35 assembly constituencies.
