BMC to Crack Down on Illegal Constructions in Mumbai from October 1

The BMC is now going to take strict action against huts and illegal constructions that are 14 feet or more high in Mumbai, Maharashtra. According to the BMC administration, a special drive will be carried out to remove illegal constructions across Mumbai from October 1 to December 31. During this time, action will be taken to directly demolish huts that are 14 feet or more high. According to BMC data, there are about 223,150 huts in Mumbai, out of which 39,111 huts have been built 14 feet or more high in violation of the rules. These include 3,343 huts in Mumbai City, 4,536 in Western Suburbs, and 31,227 in Eastern Suburbs. The BMC has already taken action on 4,584 huts, while 611 people have been served notices. The administration has made it clear that no moratorium will be given on illegal constructions after October 1. Meanwhile, opposition to this decision of the BMC has begun. Samajwadi Party leader Abumi today said that when these houses are being built more than 14 feet in height, is it not possible to do so without the cooperation of the administration?
