In a major setback to dismissed police officer Sachin Vaze in the Antilia bomb scare and Mansukh Hiren murder case, the Bombay High Court on Thursday allowed the NIA's appeal and set aside the special court's bail order dated September 29, 2026. Vaze will not be able to come out of jail now. He has been in jail since 2021. The high court had stayed the bail on September 30 itself. A bench of Justices G S Kulkarni and Dr Neela Gokhale said that the trial court's order is set aside and the appeal is allowed. The case is of NIA FIR number RC- 01/2021 NIA / MUM. The number of the appeal is Criminal Appeal 850/2026 (NIA vs Sachin Vaze and others). In September, the special court had granted bail to Vaze. Even before he could be released from Thane Central Jail, the NIA challenged the order in the high court on the same day and sought interim relief. The NIA said in the petition that the special court, without looking into the facts and circumstances of the case, had passed an illegal order and wrongful order, which is strictly in accordance with the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1967 (Section 43D).
