BRICS Gala Dinner: Opposition Chief Ministers Absent from Modi's Event

At the gala dinner hosted by Prime Minister Modi for BRICS leaders, chief ministers of opposition parties and non-BJP ruled states, especially in south India like Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, were invited. According to sources, by 6 pm, some of these chief ministers were showing signs of arriving. However, none of the chief ministers of these states attended the dinner. The chief ministers and union ministers had arrived at the Bharat Mandapam to attend the gala dinner for BRICS leaders. The dinner was part of the first day's programme of the ongoing 18th BRICS summit in New Delhi. The BRICS gala dinner is a formal reception hosted by the BRICS chairing country. It is held in the evening after the first day's programme of the summit. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto also arrived at the Bharat Mandapam to attend the event. Apart from this, President of Kazakhstan Joachim Tokayev, Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and other leaders arrived in Delhi for the 18th BRICS summit.
