At the ongoing BRICS meeting in Delhi, the atmosphere heated up on Thursday when representatives of Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) clashed. The differences between the two countries over the West Asia crisis grew so much that the atmosphere of the meeting became tense. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had to intervene so that matters did not deteriorate. At the beginning of the meeting, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar had a heated argument. He appealed to the BRICS countries to openly condemn the US and Israel for violating international laws. According to news agency PTI, Araghchi said that the BRICS should stand up to Western hegemony, although he had not directly named the UAE.
