The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday ordered the deployment of 2 policemen for the security of TMC MP Mahua Moitra. These jawans will accompany her on her visits to her Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency for the next 30 days. The bench of Justice Saugata Bhattacharya said that it is necessary to provide security to the MP in view of the allegations of harassment by the mob. After 30 days, the state government will give a report. The next hearing of the case will be on October 1. Mahua's lawyer Kalyan Bandyopadhyay said that she is not able to move freely in her area and is also having trouble working as an MP. Mahua's lawyer Bandyopadhyay said that the police reached the court after three hours of the order in Kaliganj on July 1. He alleges that the mob hurled eggs, potatoes, tomatoes and stones at Mahua. He alleges that the police had prior information, but still did not act on time. He said that it is necessary for the MP to go to his area. The lawyer also cited Mahua's Facebook Live, in which she said that the incident has happened earlier.
