RAIPUR: Former Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel launched a blistering attack against the ruling BJP government, accusing the administration of running a coordinated disinformation campaign and flagging irreconcilable discrepancies in the official figures quoted for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana—Gramin (PMAY-G) in the state. Challenging the state leadership, Baghel put the BJP-led government in the dock by pitting the deputy chief minister's statements directly against disclosures made on the floor of the Lok Sabha. Baghel revealed that on June 9, 2026, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma wrote a formal letter to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai asserting that 18.5 lakh PMAY houses had been completed in the state. However, quoting parliamentary proceedings from August 11, 2026, Baghel pointed out that Raipur BJP MP Brijmohan Agrawal tabled data obtained directly from the Union Government, stating that only 9.81 lakh houses have been completed in Chhattisgarh. Demanding accountability, Baghel asked: "Who is misleading the public, and who is lying? The government must clarify whether Deputy CM Sharma submitted falsified data to the Chief Minister, or whether Raipur BJP MP was handed incorrect figures by the Union Ministry in the Lok Sabha.” He flags a data discrepancy between the Dy CM and Parliament.
