In West Bengal's capital Kolkata on Thursday (August 27, 2026), Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary and Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee's personal security personnel, supporters and several party leaders scuffled with police and Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) officials. In fact, Kolkata Police and KMC officials were trying to barge into Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee's office in the capital's Camac Street and remove an illegal hoarding, which was opposed by TMC supporters and leaders. The hoarding, which was TMC's target on an iron structure on the top floor of Abhishek Banerjee's office building, looked straight from the road. The hoarding was removed by KMC staff after police forced their way into the building. According to a report by news agency PTI, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) alleged that police entered the office with illegal notices, manhandled senior leaders and party supporters along with the office staff.
