Saurav Das, spokesperson of the Cockroach Janata Party, has said that if the arrested students are not released by Tuesday, the CJP will resume the protest. He pointed out that on July 25, the government had assured that no action would be taken against the protesting students. However, action is now being taken against those involved in the protest. He said that if a written agreement is not reached by Tuesday and the arrested students are not released across the country, the Cockroach Janata Party will be forced to resume its sit-in. The Supreme Court, while hearing a petition against the lathicharge on the protesters, said on Monday that the right to peaceful protest is granted by the Constitution and "police excesses" or "lathicharge" cannot be justified by citing any movement. Saurav Das said that Kapil Sibal, a Rajya Sabha MP and one of the country's senior-most lawyers, is also with them. Kapil Sibal has also given Rs 1 lakh. This money will be used to provide legal aid to the protesters. Kapil Sibal said, "I will give crores of rupees to them so that they can fight a legal battle where legal cases are framed against them."
