Congress and YSRCP Explore Merger in Andhra Pradesh Amid Speculation

Speculations are also rife about a'ghar wapsi'of two other political parties as well. The merger is also being discussed about former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his party Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) and the Sharad Pawar-led NCP. The Statesman report quotes sources as saying that informal talks and behind-the-scenes contacts are taking place between the Congress leadership and the YSRCP. This has fuelled speculation of a possible political understanding or'ghar wapsi'in the old party. However, no party has confirmed any such initiative yet. YS Sharmila currently heads the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC). Sharmila is Gun Mohan Reddy's sister and had merged her political party with the Congress. Sharmila and Jagan are not on good terms, so the merger of the Congress and the YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh is not an easy one to explain.
