Congress Appoints Satheesan as Kerala Chief Minister Amid Controversy

The anti-Kerala party leader વી.ડી, who was mocked by the opposition-Left parties and even his own party leaders behind his back during the elections. The Congress decision to make Satheesan the chief minister is a farce. Though Satheesan's confidence that he would quit politics if the United Democratic Front (UDF) got the least number of seats in the assembly became a cause for mockery, his contribution to the alliance of 102 out of 140 seats was huge. The Congress leadership took ten days to decide on the chief minister's post and there was also a movement to make a person close to the Gandhi family the chief minister in Delhi instead of a local leader. The Congress, which had governments in only four states in the country (Karnataka, Telangana, Himachal and now Kerala), seems to have finally succumbed to the demands of the workers and the parties in the coalition.
