Congress Leader Clarifies Party's Stance on Singing Vande Mataram

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has cleared the air on Congress'stand on Vande Mataram. Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram said that the party sings one Antara and two verses of'Vande Mataram'in its programmes as per a long-standing tradition. He said that the same system will continue in Congress programmes. Tharoor said that if there is a national or government programme, everyone will stand with full respect. He clarified that in this case it is important to see which song is being played in the programme and what the programme is like. He said that Congress has a tradition of one Antara and two verses of'Vande Mataram'since 1937.
