The Congress party has seen a decline of nearly 75 per cent in donations above Rs 20,000 crore. In ID11, the party received Rs 2 crore, while in ID10, the figure was Rs 3 crore. An analysis of the party's filings with the Election Commission shows that this is the sharpest decline in party donations in the past decade. According to news agency PTI, the major reason for the decline is the reduction in funds received from the Prudent Electoral Trust. The major decline was in 2015-16, when Congress's declared donations fell by 86 per cent to 141.46 crore. Congress's declared donations to ID11 have been much lower than last year. However, this is not the party's lowest in the entire period examined. The current figures do not include electoral bonds. The amount received from bonds during the implementation of the scheme was reported separately. The amount of ID11 bonds added over the years is the biggest decline in the role of the Prudent Electoral Trust after the Congress.
