Congress Protests Against Alleged 'Vote Theft', Demands Investigation and Action

In Sant Kabir Nagar, on Monday, Congress workers protested against alleged'vote theft'and issues related to the electoral process. On the call of the All India Congress Committee, District Congress Committee workers gathered at the District Congress Office and then reached in front of the Old Tehsil Gate of Khalilabad and shouted slogans against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. During the protest, Congress workers burnt the effigy of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Congress leaders demanded an investigation into the alleged irregularities in the electoral rolls and electoral process. In other parts of the country, Congress had also announced a protest on the same issue on 28 September. Speaking to reporters after the effigy burning, Congress District President Praveen Chand Pandey accused Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of working at the behest of the central government. He said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has already put documents and facts about'vote theft'in front of the public. Congress District President demanded a fair investigation into the whole matter and legal action against the responsible voters. He also demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Pappu Devi Pandey, Arun Kumar Pandey, Sunil Pandey and Arun Kumar Chaudhary.
