The Congress has released its list of candidates on 284 seats for the West Bengal Assembly elections. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury will contest from the Baharampur Assembly constituency and Mausam Noor from Malatipur. Congress is contesting alone on 294 Assembly seats in the state, which together announced the names of 284 candidates. The party has decided to field Madan Roy from Darjeeling, Abdul Hannan from Sujapur, Sushmita Biswas from Dum Dum, Gautam Bhattacharya from Diamond Harbour, Souvik Mukherjee from Asansol Dakshin and Prasenjit Puitandi from Asansol Uttar. A day before this announcement of candidates, the Congress top brass held a Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting, which discussed the list of candidates for the West Bengal Assembly elections in detail. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, former party chief Rahul Gandhi, AICC general secretary KC Venugopal and leaders from West Bengal participated in this meeting. Other prominent participants in the meeting included former West Bengal Congress chiefs Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury (Darjeeling), Abdul Hannan (Sujapur), Sushmita Biswas (Dum Dum), Gautam Bhattacharya (Diamond Harbour), Souvik Mukherjee (Asansol Dakshin) and Prasenjit Puitandi (Asansol).
