Congress Releases List of 284 Candidates for Upcoming Elections

The Congress finally released its list of candidates, ending a long wait. 284 names were announced on Sunday evening. The list was finalised at a meeting of the party's central election committee in Delhi. The candidates are Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and Mausam Benazir Noor. According to the list announced on Sunday, the party has fielded Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury in Berhampore, Pradeep Prasad in Bhabanipur, Shahnaz Begum in Domkale, Abdur Razzak in Jalangi, and Motiur Rahman in Nowda. 294 Zulfikar Ali in Raninagar, Rohan Mitra, son of Somen Mitra, in Baliganj, and Mausam Benazir Noor in Maltipur. Actor Soham will be challenged by Pooja Roy Chowdhury in Karimpur. Congress spokesperson Suman Roy Chowdhury will contest from Maniktala. 294 seats were discussed at a meeting of the central election committee at the party's 24, Akbar Road office in Delhi on Saturday. Around 2,500 applications were reportedly received. From there, 284 candidates have been selected. However, eight candidates are yet to be announced.
