Congress Releases Second List of Candidates for Assam Assembly Elections

The Congress has intensified its preparations for the Assam Assembly elections. The party has released a second list of 23 candidates. It has also left 15 seats for allies. Earlier, the Congress had announced candidates for 42 seats, taking the total number of candidates fielded by the party so far to 65. While keeping in mind the politics of alliance, the Congress has left 15 seats for its allies, which has intensified the electioneering in the state. The seats left by the Congress for allies include areas like Plasbari, Guwahati Central, Morigaon, Goreswar, and Brahmapur. Assam has a total of 126 assembly seats. The Congress on Saturday released a second list of 23 candidates for the Assam Assembly elections, which includes the names of several senior leaders of the state unit, including former MP Abdul Khaliq. The party decided to leave 15 seats for allies. On March 3, the first list of 42 candidates, which included the name of state president Gaurav Gogoi, was also announced.
