Congress Reports Major Decline in Donations for Financial Year 2025-26

The Congress has reported a major decline in its donations in the financial year 2025-26. The party has received a total of 130.69 crores in the form of donations of more than 20 thousand rupees. This is about 75% less than the amount. This is the biggest annual decline in Congress's donations in the last one decade. This information has been revealed by the analysis of the Congress's contribution report submitted to the Election Commission. According to the report, the party received 517.39 crores in the form of donations of more than 20 thousand rupees in 2024-25. While in 2025-26, this amount decreased to 130.69 crores. That is, the party received less than about 386.70 crores in a year. One of the major reasons for the decline in the donations received by the Congress is the decrease in the amount of funds from the Prudent Electoral Trust. This trust gave 216.34 crores to the Congress in 2024-25. But its contribution to the Electoral Trust, which is only 25 crores in the latest report, has decreased by 88%.
