The Indian National Congress has unveiled its third batch of nominees for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections , covering 22 constituencies across the state. The move comes as the party strengthens its electoral preparations and builds momentum ahead of polling on April 9, 2026. In the Bodoland Territorial Region and nearby areas, Manik Ch. Brahma will contest from Kokrajhar (ST), MS. Sapali Marak from Baokhungri, MD Ashraful Islam Sheikh from Parbatjhora, MS. Babys Begum from Dhubri, and Aftab Uddin Mollah from Jalashwar. Abhayapuri will see Pradip Sarkar in the fray, while Matilal Narzary represents Sidli-Chirang (ST). Abdur Rahim Ahmed will contest from Chenga, and Jakir Hussain Sikdar has been fielded from Patacharkuchi. In other constituencies, Jagadish Madahi will run from Baksa (ST), Rafie Daimary from Tamulpur (ST), and Soren Daimari from Udalguri (ST). Asif Mohammad Nazar will represent Laharighat, Durlav Chamu from Nagaon-Batadraba, and Sunil Chetry from Naduar. Joyonto Khaound will contest from Rongapara, Ghana Buragohain from Lakhimpur, and Ananda Narah from Dhakuakhana (ST). The party has also nominated Sibanath Chetia for Makum, MS. Roselina Tirkey for Khumtai, Sanjeeb Teron for Howraghat (ST), and Zubair Anam Mazumder for Algapur-Katlichera. The Congress said the selections were finalised by the Central Election Committee and announced through AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal.
