Congress Workers Protest Against Chief Election Commissioner in Hapur

In Hapur, Congress workers protested against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Congress workers were stopped by the police near the statue of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar in Meerut Tiraha. Police stopped them citing Section 144 and without permission. Also, Congress district president Rakesh Tyagi and city Congress committee president along with more than one and a half dozen office bearers and workers were detained and sent to the police lines. In fact, on Monday, Congress office bearers and workers gathered at the statue of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar in Meerut Tiraha. As per the schedule, the workers had to go from there to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the municipality in the form of a procession and then reach the SDM office to submit a memorandum. SDM Prem Pal Singh and CO City Deepak Chaturvedi reached the spot with the police force. Administrative officials said that Section 144 is in force in the area and there is no permission for the demonstration, so the memorandum should be submitted here. Congress went to the SDM's office. During the ruckus that lasted for about half an hour, both the district president and the police officers accused the Congress workers of indecent behaviour.
