There has been a controversy over the teaching of Urdu in a private school in Nizamabad, Telangana. Some parents allege that primary school students are being taught Urdu without their consent. Following these allegations, BJP leaders and parents staged protests. Police have registered two FIRs in the matter. Bharat Chandra High School in Nizamabad is run by the Mallaiah Educational Trust. The school is in the purview of Armoor Municipality. Parents allege that Urdu was being taught to students studying in English and Telugu medium sections of classes I to V in this school for the past few weeks. Parents questioned the inclusion of Urdu in the curriculum and sought an explanation from the school management. Following the complaints, local BJP, BJYM, ABVP, Bajrang Dal and RSS leaders reached the school and clashed with the management. They questioned why students taking admission in Telugu and English medium sections were being taught Urdu. The management also reached Perur to see the situation and demanded action against the principal.
