Kerala CPI (M) state secretary M V Govindan directly blamed the Congress for the BJP's victory in the Thrissur Lok Sabha seat in 2024 and Nemom Assembly seat in 2016. On Friday, he alleged that the BJP was able to win these two seats only because of the Congress's reduced vote share. Confronting reporters about the recent allegations of CPI (M) -BJP cover-up by the UDF, Govindan said that the Left has always consistently opposed the RSS and the BJP. On the contrary, he alleged that the Congress, led by Leader of the Opposition V D Satheesan, was in talks with the Sangh Parivar leaders. Govindan said that the BJP's only Assembly victory in Kerala came from Nemom and their only victory in the Lok Sabha seat was in Thrissur. He claimed that both these victories were possible because of the Congress's reduced vote share. He gave specific figures, saying, "The Congress's vote in Thrissur went down by 84,000 in the Lok Sabha elections. The BJP won by a margin of 74,000 votes, but our vote share increased by 16,000 there."
