The budget session of the Delhi assembly is expected to begin on March 23. Officials have informed that the proposal to hold the session will be placed in the cabinet meeting which will be chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. On the first day of the session, the Economic Survey of Delhi will be tabled. The next day, the annual budget for the financial year 2026-27 will be presented in the house. According to a senior official, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented her first budget in the assembly in 2025, which was Rs 1 lakh crore. This year's budget allocation may be slightly higher than last year. According to officials, the second budget of the BJP government in Delhi is likely to focus on infrastructure, environmental initiatives and education. Meanwhile, the Delhi government has asked departments not to submit spending proposals just before the end of the current financial year. A memorandum has also been issued in this regard asking departments to submit spending proposals before March 23.
